Landscaping services range from complete garden design and makeover projects to seasonal maintenance, hard landscaping jobs such as constructing a new patio or deck to offering professional advice about achieving the aesthetic a homeowner would like their outdoor space to have.

Because landscaping is such a multi-skilled field, we often speak with clients wondering what we can and cannot do or whether they might need to employ multiple different contractors to handle more complex garden transformation jobs.

The good news is that an experienced landscaping team can handle any landscaping requirements of any size, from start to finish, whether you’ve bought a new home and need design ideas to create your dream garden or simply want an area of artificial grass for kids to play on.

Popular Types of Landscaping Services

Perhaps the easiest way to explain a landscaping service is to clarify that it’s similar to home improvement – but related to the outside of your property. Landscaping teams also have varied specialisms, with talented garden designers, block-paving professionals and experts in tree health as a few examples.

Cotswold Paving and Landscaping offers all these services in-house, ensuring you can consult with one project manager or team of fantastic gardeners, letting us know what you’d like to do with your outdoor space.

From there, we can make suggestions, advise on the best plants and shrubs for your soil and the local environment, or construct hard landscaping assets like patios, driveways and fencing to improve security and privacy or segregate your garden into different usage areas.

Garden Design Services

Step one in any landscaping project is to create an attractive design that sets out all of the spaces, features and focal points you’d like to see in your garden. In some cases, clients already have a landscaped garden and want advice about a specific area, but many others are starting from scratch, or looking for inspiration about how to transform a tired, overgrown and muddy garden into something special.

During a design consultation, we’ll work through several factors, which might include:

    • The size of the garden, natural lighting and soil conditions.
    • Your budget and any time frames you have in mind.
    • How you use the garden – or would like to use it.
    • The time and equipment you have to keep up with garden maintenance, such as a lawn mower.

Garden design projects can be a brilliant way to gain advice from professional landscapers, who can suggest the best way to extract all the benefits possible from your outside space or recommend a few different installation ideas that match your requirements.

Seasonal and Ongoing Garden Maintenance

Many people hire a landscaping team because they don’t have the time to maintain their gardens to the high standard they want. We offer periodic maintenance to deal with issues, such as overgrown patches, poor irrigation or low soil quality, and seasonal maintenance, like removing all the leaves from your lawn in the autumn or scarifying and reseeding your lawn in the spring.

The exact services will depend on the features you have in your garden but can include hedge trimming, pruning, tidying flower beds, lawn mowing, additional planting and giving your fencing, patio, decking and pathways a thorough de-weed and clean.

Soft Garden Landscaping

Soft landscaping refers to all the green and natural parts of your garden. As a one-stop shop for all things landscaping, we offer soft landscaping expertise during garden design and full landscaping projects or can take care of specific planting requirements.

For instance, you might wish to remove a water-logged lawn and replace it with new turf or artificial grass, plant generous hedges to separate one green space from another or to add privacy or add new planting and trees to balance out empty parts of the garden.

These landscaping services include turfing, weeding, mulching, replacing or adding nutrients to the soil, and generally taking good care of trees, shrubs, planting and herb gardens.

Hard Landscaping

In contrast to soft landscaping, hard landscaping services include anything that isn’t naturally planted, but forms part of the layout and design of your garden. We design, supply and complete installation of a vast array of garden features, from fencing and decking to patios, water features, ponds, pergola, privacy screens and trellises.

Cotswold Paving and Landscaping provides additional services, installing driveways, block paving, drainage systems and steps. We can also construct sub-bases to ensure any seating areas, barbecue pits, or entertaining spaces are stable and durable.

Full Garden Design vs Smaller Landscaping Projects

As we’ve explained, landscaping covers a number of potential services, and we work with clients who might have a great garden that they want kept clear and tidy, those who’d like a professional gardening team to manage regular hedge trimming and pruning, and homeowners looking for a larger landscaping job or complete garden redesign.

Our teams are always fully insured and have the tools, equipment and knowledge to complete any size or complexity of installation, with ongoing gardening services to keep your flower beds, borders and weeds under control.

Landscaping Project Case Studies

To showcase the breadth of support available, we’ve summarised two recent projects, both very different clients with different gardens and requirements! Client A has a generous-sized garden but felt that it lacked character or style and had become a little tired and worn down after a few years of being used primarily by pets and children playing football.

We worked through a full design process to transform the space, including a durable play area with thick, tough grass, a separate patio with discreet lighting for the parents to entertain and eat outdoors, and some bespoke flower beds with a range of evergreen planting to ensure the garden has colour and scent year-round, along with delicate florals.

Client B recently purchased a semi-detached home with a small outdoor space to the front of the property previously used for bin storage. Cotswold Paving and Landscaping installed a new paved driveway with excellent drainage and introduced off-road parking and a spot for an EV charger.

Both garden landscaping projects were a pleasure to work on – and illustrate how a professional landscaping team can accommodate any requirements, ensuring your outdoor space enhances your home’s curb appeal and meets the needs of you and your family.
